ANNISTON, AL — The Public Library of Anniston-Calhoun County will host a special presentation titled “The Lady – Ten Things I Didn’t Know About the Statue of Liberty” on Tuesday, June 9, at 2 p.m.

The program will be presented by Dolores Hydock and will take place at the library, located at 108 E. 10th Street in Anniston.

According to the event description, the presentation will explore the history and development of the Statue of Liberty, one of the most recognized symbols of American democracy. Topics will include the origins of the idea for the monument, individuals who influenced the project, changes made to the design during development, challenges surrounding funding, and public reaction to the statue’s unveiling.

Organizers note that while the Statue of Liberty is widely known as a symbol of freedom and democracy, many aspects of its creation and history remain unfamiliar to the public. The program aims to provide attendees with a deeper understanding of the monument’s background and significance.

The event is open to the public.
