Anniston Man's Life Tragically Cut Short in Interstate 459 Crash

Irondale, AL – In a tragic turn of events in a single-vehicle accident on Tuesday, October 24. Timothy W. Thomas, a 72-year-old Anniston man, was involved in a devastating crash when his 2023 Nissan Altima veered off the road and collided with a bridge column.

The incident, which took place on Interstate 459 near the 27-mile marker, occurred within the city limits of Irondale, located in Jefferson County.

Mr. Thomas was critically injured in the accident and immediately transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for medical treatment. However, despite all efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, October 31.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division are investigating the accident.
