ANNISTON, AL — The City of Anniston is grieving the profound loss of Fire Chief Jeff Waldrep, a man whose life was defined by service, strength, and an unshakable commitment to the safety and well-being of others.
Chief Waldrep, who dedicated more than three decades to the Anniston Fire Department, passed away following a recent and severe heart attack. Despite a courageous fight, the city now bids farewell to a true guardian and leader who left an indelible mark on both the department and the community he so deeply loved.
Throughout his distinguished career, Chief Waldrep was more than a firefighter—he was a mentor, a friend, and a source of unwavering support for his team. His leadership was defined by integrity and compassion, always placing the needs of others above his own. Whether responding to emergencies or offering a reassuring presence in moments of crisis, he embodied the very spirit of public service.
The Calhoun Journal extends our heartfelt condolences to Chief Waldrep’s family, his fellow firefighters, and all those who had the honor of serving alongside him. His absence will be deeply felt, but his legacy will continue to live on in every life he touched and every act of bravery performed in his memory.
As we mourn, we also remember the values he stood for—courage, dignity, loyalty, and love for his community. May we carry forward his mission with the same unwavering dedication that defined his life.
