Anniston Museum and Gardens Hosts Trail Walk Series in Celebration of Alabama’s Year of the Trails

Trail Walk

Anniston, AL – The Anniston Museum and Gardens invites the community to celebrate Alabama’s natural beauty with a Trail Walk series at the Longleaf Botanical Gardens (LBG). The first two guided hikes of the year will take place on Saturday, January 11th, and Saturday, January 18th, at 9:30 a.m.

This series is part of the statewide initiative celebrating 2025 as the Year of the Trails, designated by the Alabama Tourism Department. It offers a chance to explore LBG’s four scenic nature trails, including the Bird of Prey Trail, a recognized site on the Alabama Birding Trail.

Led by an Educational Interpreter, these guided hikes will be held twice a month from January through May, providing an excellent opportunity to enjoy Alabama’s outdoors. Winter hikes offer a unique perspective, allowing participants to view wildlife without the usual cover of leaves.

Participants will meet at the Learning Lodge to begin the walk along the Upper Nature Trail. Attendees are encouraged to dress warmly, wear sturdy footwear, and prepare for an immersive outdoor experience.

This program is free of charge, and museum admission is not required to participate.

Whether you are a seasoned hiker or a first-time adventurer, the Trail Walk series is a perfect way to connect with nature and explore the stunning landscapes that make Alabama unique. Don’t miss this chance to celebrate the Year of the Trails and discover the treasures of the Longleaf Botanical Gardens.
