Anniston Museum and Gardens To Host Navy-Themed Art Class

Anniston, AL – The Anniston Museum and Gardens is offering a unique and engaging navy-themed art class on Wednesday, July 24th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The class, hosted at the Berman Museum, provides an opportunity for participants to explore the fascinating world of naval communication through flags.

Did you know that ships can communicate with each other using flags? This intriguing aspect of naval history will be the focus of the class. Attendees will learn about naval alphabet flags and how they are used to send messages between ships. Participants will have the chance to create their own names using only these flags, blending creativity with a bit of maritime history.

In addition to the art class, participants can explore the museum’s new temporary gallery, “A Pirate’s Life,” to learn more about the role of flags in piracy. This exhibit offers an in-depth look at how pirates used flags to identify themselves and communicate on the high seas.

This educational program is included with museum admission and is free for AM&G members. It’s a wonderful opportunity for families, children, and art enthusiasts to enjoy a hands-on activity while delving into a unique aspect of naval history.

Join us anytime between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. at the Berman Museum for a fun and educational afternoon. Whether you’re a budding artist, a history buff, or simply looking for a fun activity, this navy-themed art class is sure to be a hit.
