Anniston, AL – The Anniston Museum of Natural History will offer a monthly lunch and learn series beginning in September that combines books, museum collections and discussions about the natural world.
The “Nature in Conversation Lunch and Learn Series” will be held on the first Friday of each month at the museum. The first program is scheduled for noon Friday, Sept. 4.
According to Anniston Museums and Gardens, the series will explore topics related to conservation, ecology and the connections between nature and the modern world. Discussions will be inspired by a featured book as well as items from the Anniston Museum of Natural History’s collection.
Participants are not required to read the featured book before attending. Guests may also bring a lunch to eat during the program.
The September discussion will feature Beaver Land: How One Weird Rodent Made America by Leila Philip.
Additional books scheduled for the series include Why Fish Don’t Exist by Lulu Miller in October and Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer in November.
The program is included with regular museum admission and is free for Anniston Museums and Gardens members. Pre-registration is encouraged.
