Anniston Museums and Gardens Hosts ‘Celebrating Cicadas’ Event

Celebrating Cicadas

Anniston, AL – The Anniston Museums and Gardens is set to host an engaging event titled “Celebrating Cicadas” on Wednesday, July 10th, at 11 a.m. This family-friendly program offers a unique opportunity to learn about cicadas, a fascinating insect that has been making waves in the Southeast this summer.

Earlier this year, the region witnessed the emergence of Brood XIX cicadas, a group of 13-year periodical cicadas known for their distinctive red eyes. Though these special visitors have come and gone, the annual cicadas are still active, providing a perfect occasion for continued celebration and education.

The “Celebrating Cicadas” event will feature interactive learning sessions, crafts, hands-on experiences, and more, making it an educational and fun outing for all ages. Participants will delve into the life cycle, habits, and ecological importance of these remarkable insects.

The program is included with museum admission and is free for Anniston Museums and Gardens members. Don’t miss this chance to explore the incredible world of cicadas and enjoy a day of discovery and creativity at the Anniston Museums and Gardens.
