Anniston, AL – On Thursday, October 26th, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, Anniston Museums and Gardens invites all nature enthusiasts and aspiring birdwatchers to join an informative event that delves into the fascinating world of Alabama’s avian wonders. The event is part of a series of activities that celebrate “The Year of Alabama Birding,” as designated by the Alabama Tourism Department.
This engaging session will provide valuable insights for both novice and seasoned birders, highlighting the use of eBird, a renowned bird observation and tracking program. Attendees will discover how eBird empowers bird enthusiasts to delve deeper into the intricacies of Alabama’s diverse bird species, which number over 425, and learn how their contributions to the program benefit researchers and conservationists alike.
Eric Soehren, an ecologist and the manager of the Wehle Land Conservation Center in Midway, Alabama, will be leading the event. Eric is not only an expert in his field but is also actively involved in various conservation organizations, including the Alabama Ornithological Society and the Inland Bird Banding Association.
