Anniston, AL – On Saturday, July 12 at 1:30 p.m., the Anniston Museums and Gardens will host a special event titled “Fallen Heroes of Calhoun County: The Soldiers and the Sacrifice.” This program aims to honor the memory and legacy of local military service members who gave their lives in service to the country, from World War I through the Vietnam War.
Led by volunteer Anna Grace Silvey, the event will highlight personal stories of Calhoun County soldiers who served and died in major 20th-century conflicts. Attendees will also hear the story of a local Vietnam War veteran who demonstrated extraordinary heroism.
The program provides an opportunity for community members to reflect on the personal sacrifices that helped shape the nation’s history. According to museum staff, it is intended as both an educational and commemorative experience.
The event is included with regular daily admission to the museums and is free for Anniston Museums and Gardens members. It will take place at the museum campus on Museum Drive in Anniston, AL.
