ANNISTON, AL — Anniston Museums and Gardens will offer an evening of nocturnal wildlife, folklore and family activities when Museum After Dark takes place Saturday, Oct. 10, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The after-hours fall festival will feature live nocturnal animals, a guided owl walk, hayrides, crafts, creature-themed face painting and hands-on activities throughout the evening. Visitors will also have opportunities to explore stories surrounding mythical and legendary creatures, including Bigfoot, Mothman and others.
Admission to Museum After Dark includes access to the Anniston Museum of Natural History. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children ages 4–17 and free for children ages 3 and younger. Anniston Museums and Gardens members receive a $5 discount.
The event builds on the museum’s programming focused on animals and the natural world after sunset. In September, the Calhoun Journal attended “Night Shift: Senses in the Shadows,” a members-only program that offered an early look at some of the museum’s nocturnal wildlife programming. During that event, museum educators discussed how animals use hearing, smell, touch and other adaptations to navigate low-light environments and introduced guests to several live animal ambassadors.
Photos and additional details from that September program are available in the Calhoun Journal’s earlier coverage:
