ANNISTON, AL — United Way of East Central Alabama announced that HopeUNITED Outreach Coordinator Pam Stack has received the 2025 Meritorious Service Award from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Alabama.
The award recognizes individuals whose service has provided significant support to the mission of the United States Attorney’s Office and the pursuit of justice.
Stack was honored alongside Sara Riesing of Worthy2 for their work serving victims of crime, particularly survivors of human trafficking. According to United Way, the two were recognized for their advocacy and support of victim-survivors while assisting efforts to hold offenders accountable.
During the award presentation, U.S. Attorney Thomas Govan highlighted Stack’s involvement in a recent federal human trafficking trial. He noted her support of victim-survivors throughout the court proceedings, describing her as a calming presence who helped survivors navigate the challenges of the trial while ensuring they felt supported.
According to United Way, Stack has spent her career advocating for victim-survivors by connecting individuals with resources, providing courtroom support, and assisting those rebuilding their lives after exploitation and abuse.
“Pam embodies everything HopeUNITED stands for,” said Jessica Smith, Director of Community Engagement at United Way of East Central Alabama. “She leads with compassion, advocates with courage, and serves every survivor with dignity and respect. While many never see the work she does behind the scenes, its impact is immeasurable. We are incredibly proud to see her recognized for the difference she makes in the lives of so many.”
HopeUNITED, a program of United Way of East Central Alabama, focuses on preventing human trafficking, educating the community, and providing advocacy and support services for victim-survivors throughout East Central Alabama. The program works in partnership with law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, service providers, and community organizations to connect survivors with resources and assistance.
Smith said the recognition also highlights the value of collaboration among advocacy organizations, law enforcement, prosecutors, and community partners in addressing human trafficking and supporting survivors.
United Way of East Central Alabama congratulated Stack on receiving the award and thanked her for her continued commitment to serving victim-survivors across the region.
