ANNISTON, AL — The Anniston Police Department and the Anniston Police Foundation are stepping up for a powerful cause on Saturday, May 31, at 9:00 a.m. with the return of their “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event. The walk will begin at the Anniston Police Department and end at Sinclair Social, bringing the community together in a unique and meaningful way.
Participants — including Anniston’s own men in blue — will lace up high heels and walk a full mile through the city streets to raise awareness and funds for victims of domestic and sexual violence. The public is encouraged to come out and cheer them on as they take to the pavement in heels, showing solidarity and support in this symbolic act.
Proceeds from the event will benefit both the Anniston Police Department and 2nd Chance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence across northeast Alabama.
Following the walk, the community is invited to gather at Sinclair Social for an after-event celebration featuring food, drinks, and live music — a chance to relax, connect, and continue supporting the cause.
This impactful event blends humor, compassion, and community involvement to spark conversation and raise critical funds. Whether you’re walking, watching, or just showing up in support, your presence makes a difference.
Mark your calendars, Anniston — and don’t miss the opportunity to witness the city’s finest walk a mile in her shoes for a greater purpose.
