ANNISTON, AL — Four individuals were arrested on Anniston Police Department charges and outstanding warrants following the execution of a search warrant at a residence in the 1100 block of Pine Avenue on July 22, according to the Anniston Police Department.
Investigators said they developed probable cause to obtain the search warrant as part of an investigation into the alleged illegal distribution of controlled substances.
Later that evening, investigators with the Anniston Police Department, assisted by the department’s Special Response Team (SRT), drone team, the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, executed the warrant.
During the search, authorities reported recovering suspected synthetic cannabinoids, commonly known as “spice,” methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
According to police, six individuals were taken into custody during the operation. Four were arrested on Anniston Police Department charges and outstanding warrants:
- Keandra Morgan, 34, of Anniston, was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband Second Degree, Possession of Marijuana First Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Identity Theft and Theft of Property First Degree.
- James Roberts, 72, of Anniston, was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Failure to Appear.
- Anthony McKinney, 43, of Oxford, was arrested for Failure to Appear.
- Jutavious English, 36, of Anniston, was arrested for Failure to Appear.
Police said two additional individuals at the residence were arrested on outstanding warrants issued through the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and the Oxford Police Department.
In a statement, the Anniston Police Department said protecting public safety remains its highest priority and that it will continue pursuing individuals engaged in criminal activity through proactive investigations and partnerships with other law enforcement agencies.
The department also thanked the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance during the operation.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities said additional charges are possible.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
