Anniston, AL – On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at approximately 2:30am, an Anniston police officer observed a vehicle speeding on Parkwood Drive. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and could smell the odor of possible marijuana prior to exiting his vehicle. When the officer made contact with the driver, Landon Cole Childers, 26, of Anniston, he was able to confirm the odor was coming from Childers vehicle. The officer had Childers exit the vehicle, not under arrest, and stand away from the car so it could be searched. During the time officers were searching the vehicle, Childers attempted to flee the area on foot. After a brief foot pursuit from the officers, Childers was taken into custody and restrained. Officers continued the search of the vehicle which resulted in a large number of narcotics seized as evidence. Officers located over 80 pills that included ecstasy pills, hydrocodone, and others. Also seized was $2,800 in cash and a 9mm Palmetto Dagger compact pistol.
