Anniston, AL – With freezing temperatures forecasted to begin this weekend, the City of Anniston is urging residents to be vigilant and take necessary precautions. In response to the expected weather conditions, a public warming station will be available, operated in collaboration with United Way of East Central Alabama, the City of Anniston, His Hands and Feet Ministries, and MeMe’s Heart.

The warming station, set to open in the evenings at 5:00 PM and close in the mornings at 8:00 AM on Sunday, March 10, 2024, and Monday, March 11, 2024, aims to provide a refuge for individuals seeking shelter from the cold.

Located at The Bridge at Anniston First United Methodist Church, 1400 Noble Street, Anniston, AL 36201, the warming station is a joint effort to ensure the safety and well-being of the community during the anticipated harsh weather conditions. It is emphasized that admission into the warming station concludes each night at 9:00 PM.

In the event of a change in the weather forecast, an extension of the warming station’s operating hours is possible. To stay informed and learn more about the warming station, residents are encouraged to visit the official City of Anniston website at www.annistonal.gov/warming-station.
