Anniston Regional Airport Receives Master Plan Funding

Anniston, AL – The City of Anniston is pleased to announce that the Alabama Department of Transportation, in partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), has awarded the Anniston Regional Airport a grant totaling $321,603. The funding includes $304,677 from the FAA and a $16,926 state grant. In addition, the City of Anniston will contribute $16,927 in matching funds, bringing the total investment to $338,530. This financial support will drive the airport’s upcoming Master Plan update, an initiative set to begin in the coming months.

The Master Plan project is designed to address the airport’s evolving role in the region, guiding infrastructure improvements that enhance its capability to support economic development and meet community needs. The Anniston Regional Airport, certified as an unlimited-use general aviation facility, is equipped with a 7,002-foot runway accommodating large dual-wheel aircraft, such as converted 727s used for freight transport. The facility also provides general aviation services, including hangars, tie-downs, flight instruction, and fueling options for Exxon100LL and Jet-A.
