Anniston, AL – The City of Anniston, in collaboration with the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), is launching a major road work project on Alabama State Route 21 (SR-21) aimed at enhancing safety, access management, and resurfacing. This significant project will span from Milepost 258 to Milepost 265 in Calhoun County.
Starting immediately, ALDOT will implement lane closures on SR-21 northbound and/or southbound between Milepost 258 and Milepost 265. These closures will be in effect daily from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM CT to facilitate necessary improvements.
Project Scope:
- Removal and modification of median crossovers
- Removal and construction of turn lanes
- Construction of U-turn bulbs
- Modification of business accesses
- Upgrades to drainage components
- Resurfacing of SR-21
The project is scheduled for completion by November 14, 2025.
Motorists are advised to consider alternate routes, adjust their travel times, adhere to work zone speed limits, and follow all work zone signage. ALDOT emphasizes the importance of safety and caution when traveling through the work area.
