Anniston Shooting Leaves Multiple People Injured

Anniston Shooting

Anniston, AL – Per the Anniston Police Department in the early morning hours of 05/27/22, gunfire erupted after a graduation party at 1204 Front St. Over 150 people (ages 14 to 20s) from all over the area were attending this event.

Six people were struck from gunfire. None of the injuries were life threatening. At least one person was injured from fleeing the scene, and those injuries were not life threatening. Multiple vehicles were hit from stray bullets and we are still receiving those reports. Dozens of shell casings were recovered from the scene and are being submitted for processing. Several firearms were recovered from the scene and are being processed by our crime lab.
The police department also stated:
“The impulse to use firearms by the young people in our society is a tragedy and a shame. Your local police department is called after an event happens and is not able to predict this type of crime. It is up to the families and communities as a whole to protect our children from gun violence. APD is committed to doing whatever we can to help.
Lives are fragile and precious. This is not a video game or movie. You don’t get to respawn. The other person doesn’t get another chance to play again.”
They also issued a thank you to the Oxford Police Department for assisting during the chaotic scene.
This case is active and ongoing. If you have any additional information or videos, please contact the Anniston Investigative Division at 256-240-4000
