Anniston, AL – Outdoor enthusiasts and athletes are invited to participate in the 3rd Annual Treadhoofalon, an event that celebrates shared trail use with a blend of competition and camaraderie. Hosted by Treadhoofalon, the Back Country Horsemen of America – Alabama – McClellan Chapter, and other sponsors, this event will be held at 127 Mud Hole Rd, Anniston, AL, on Saturday, November 9th.
The Treadhoofalon is known for bringing together three trail user groups: mountain bikers, trail runners, and horseback riders. Participants will traverse scenic trails adorned with vibrant fall foliage as they test their skills and endurance. Horseback riders will start at 8:00 AM, followed by staggered start times for bikers and runners. Each discipline is designed to offer a distinct challenge: an 8-mile mountain biking course, a 4-mile trail run, and a 4-mile horseback ride.
Individual registration is set at $55, which covers a t-shirt (for those registered by the deadline), an award or medal, and brunch. Group registration is available at $120 for teams of three. With a cap of 50 participants per discipline (150 total), interested competitors should act swiftly to secure their spots. Participants must be at least 10 years old to join, and helmets are required for bikers and horseback riders under 18. Registration and more event details are available at Treadhoofalon.com.
Safety measures have been put in place to ensure a seamless experience for all. Trails affected by the event will have closures posted at trailheads, but some trails will remain open to the public. Competitors and spectators are encouraged to remain vigilant, as portions of the event may intersect with open trails. Water stations will be provided for bikers and runners, and horses will have access to water hoses at Camp McClellan.
The event isn’t just about competition; it’s a celebration of community. Spectators are welcome to cheer on participants from designated viewing areas. For those looking to extend their visit, Camp McClellan offers 30 AMP electric hookups and primitive camping sites, along with stalls for horses. Camping reservations can be made through the Camp McClellan Campground page.
Bragging rights and unique trophies await the fastest team, along with recognition for the slowest team and top performers in each discipline. Brunch will be served at the pavilion, and non-competitors can purchase meal tickets for $10.
Proceeds from the event will benefit local trail user groups, with donations supporting charities of their choice. The event’s primary mission is to strengthen bonds between the trail user community and foster an appreciation for shared outdoor spaces.
