Anniston Town Hall to Focus on Education, Transparency, and Community Engagement on May 1

Anniston, AL – The Calhoun County Tri-Council is inviting all residents to a critical and community-focused event — the Calhoun County Board of Education Town Hall Meeting — set to take place on Wednesday, May 1, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Anniston City Meeting Center, located at 1615 Noble Street, Suite A.

This public town hall is an opportunity for open dialogue and collaborative discussion between school leadership and the community. The event is designed to promote transparency, encourage community engagement, and provide a clear look into the priorities and progress of public education in Anniston.

The meeting will feature key voices from the Anniston City School System, including:

Blackberry Hill Summer Camp
  • Dr. D. Ray Hill, Superintendent

  • Mr. Robert Houston, President, Anniston City School Board

  • Ms. Johanna Martin, Chief Financial Officer

  • Ms. Theresa Huff, Senior Director of Elementary Instruction and Curriculum

  • Dr. Marcus Barber, Senior Director of Secondary Instruction and Curriculum

They will be joined by school principals and representatives from human resources, technology, and maintenance, all ready to share updates and engage with attendees.

From school finances and curriculum updates to staffing, technology, and facilities, this town hall provides a platform for residents to ask questions, voice concerns, and hear directly from the individuals shaping the future of education in Anniston.
