Anniston, AL – The Health Care Authority of the City of Anniston (RMC) has announced the approval of a new loan issued by Greystone Funding Company, LLC, and fully insured by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This financing, granted through a special hospital loan program, will allow RMC to address its existing long-term debt.
“This is a significant milestone for RMC and our entire community,” said RMC Board Chairman Hinton “Bud” Owsley. “We are confident that with this support, we will be able to keep high-quality care local and ultimately better serve the healthcare needs of our region now and in the future.”
The loan approval followed an extensive evaluation process, which included meetings in both Washington, D.C., and Anniston, as well as thorough reviews by HUD. The approval underscores the role of healthcare in Northeast Alabama and highlights the future potential of the region’s medical services.
RMC CEO Louis Bass expressed pride in the hospital’s achievement, noting, “We are proud to be one of only a few hospitals in the nation selected for this unique opportunity. It’s a testament to the strength and resilience of our community – and the collaboration of all involved.” Bass also thanked the Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama, the City of Anniston, the RMC Board, and partners at Greystone and HUD for their support in making the loan possible.
RMC plans to pursue a second loan under the same HUD program, which will be used to address capital equipment needs. Bass expressed optimism about the hospital’s future, saying, “This achievement marks the beginning of a new chapter for RMC. We are proud of what we’ve accomplished and excited for what lies ahead.”
RMC is the leading healthcare provider for a five-county area in northeast Alabama, offering a wide range of services, including cardiac, orthopedic, oncology, and emergency care. The hospital operates 463 inpatient beds across two campuses and employs more than 1,900 staff, 300 volunteers, and 200 physicians.
