City of Anniston Transit Alert West 15th Streetscape Project 091823

Anniston, AL – The City of Anniston has made an effort to remind all residents of an exciting development that is staring. In FY21, Governor Ivey awarded the City of Anniston a significant Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Grant, amounting to $640,000. This grant was specifically earmarked for enhancing the streetscape of West 15th Street in Anniston.

They are delighted to announce that the planning, comprehensive surveying, and engineering efforts for this project have now concluded. The streetscape project is set to commence on Monday, September 18, 2023. As they embark on this transformative journey for West 15th Street, they would like to provide residents with some important information.

This endeavor required the use of heavy equipment for the removal and replacement of various aspects of the street infrastructure, including sidewalks, curbs and gutters, light posts, drainage structures, crosswalks, and more. To ensure the safety of all residents and workers, it may be necessary to reduce traffic to one lane during different stages of the project.

The construction phase of this project is estimated to last a duration of ninety (90) days, barring any unforeseen extensions due to inclement weather or unexpected circumstances. The city appreciates your patience and understanding during this period of transformation.

Your opinions and concerns matter to them. If at any point during this project anyone has questions or encounter concerns regarding the work being undertaken, please do not hesitate to reach out to the City of Anniston’s Engineering Department at (256) 231-7750 or via email at [email protected]. The city has stated that, “Your feedback is invaluable to us as we work together to improve our city’s infrastructure. We are excited about the positive changes this project will bring to West 15th Street and the entire Anniston community. Thank you for your cooperation and support in making our city an even better place to live.”
