Annual Wing Night Returning to Showcase Anniston’s Remarkable Bats

Anniston, AL – Join the Georgia-Alabama Land Trust for the highly anticipated annual Wing Night event at Weaver Cave Preserve in Anniston, Alabama, where attendees will have the chance to learn about and observe the remarkable resident bats of the area. Registration opens on July 12th at 12:30 PM CT.

The event will take place on August 9th at 6:30 PM. Weaver Cave is a crucial habitat, hosting over 12,000 endangered gray bats in the summer and more than 600 tricolored bats in the winter. The preservation of this cave is vital for the conservation of these species.

Red Bird Camp

The evening begins with a captivating presentation by Vicky Smith, an expert in bat natural history. Vicky will discuss the fascinating lives of these nocturnal creatures and, as a special treat, will bring a live bat for attendees to see up close. This unique opportunity allows guests to learn about these amazing animals firsthand.

As the sun sets, participants will witness the awe-inspiring sight of thousands of bats emerging from Weaver Cave for their nightly foray. This natural spectacle is a highlight of the event and offers an unforgettable experience for all who attend.
