Calhoun County, AL – Ohatchee goes on road, wins 3A, Area 12 tournament, and Glencoe finishes as runner up. Piedmont falls in five-set match. Jacksonville runner up in 5A, Area 11.
GLENCOE — Most valuable player Rebecca Henderson recorded 39 kills in two matches, and Ohatchee went on the road to win the Class 3A, Area 12 tournament on Tuesday.
The Indians beat Westbrook Christian 25-14, 25-23, 21-25, 14-25, 15-10 in the semifinals and Glencoe 25-16, 25-15, 15-25, 29-27 in the finals. Ohatchee and Glencoe will advance to next week’s North Regional.
Henderson added six aces, 11 digs and one block to her kills total. She joined Ohatchee teammates Alanah Fitch, Emily Riddle and Savannah Reaves on the all-tournament team.
Also making the all-tournament team were Piedmont’s Cacey Brothers and Cayla Brothers, Westbrook Christian’s Kylie Wyatt and Marley Cox and Glencoe’s Alli Jo Amos, Evelyn Nowak, and Mia Talbot.
Ohatchee’s other top performers:
—Fitch: 16 kills, 57 assists, one ace, 10 digs, one block.
—Brett Finn: six kills, one assist, 11 aces, four digs, three blocks.

GLENCOE: Runner up Glencoe beat Piedmont 23-25, 25-8, 25-15, 21-25, 15-13 then fell to Ohatchee in the final.

JACKSONVILLE: The Golden Eagles finished as runner up in the Class 5A, Area 11 tournament, falling to St. Clair County 23-25, 13-25, 25-18, 18-25 in the final at Jacksonville.
Both teams advanced to next week’s North Regional at Hoover.
Jacksonville’s Alexis Phillips was the tournament’s defensive most valuable player. Jacksonville teammates Sydney Soriano, Mya Swain and Camryn Stone joined her on the all-tournament team.

ANNISTON — Samantha Wakefield had 22 kills and Callee Taylor 44 assists as host Donoho swept through the Class 3A, Area 9 tournament on Monday, punching their ticket to next week’s North Regional.
The Falcons beat Saks 25-10, 25-7, 25-13 in the semifinals and Weaver 25-18, 25-9, 25-22 in the area title match.
Wakefield was the tourney’s most valuable player, and Donoho teammates Ryals Jones, Bentlee Pahman, Callee Taylor and Kate Williamon joined her on the all-tournament team.
Also making the all-tourney team were Randolph County’s Anna Grace Henderson and Katelyn Black, Saks’ Adrianna Stevens and Ava Snead, Wellborn’s Bentley Bean and Hannah Grubbs and Weaver’s Ansley Montgomery, Chloe Collison, Gracie Duncan and Jadey Hatten-Rivera.

OXFORD: Host Oxford won its three-team area, beating Pell City 25-7, 25-14, 25-8 in the final.
Both teams advanced to the North Regional. Runner up Pell City beat Shades Valley in Monday’s other 6A, Area 11 match.
Oxford setter Payton Brooks was selected as most valuable player. Jaslyn Montgomery and Mileah Prince also made the all-tournament team.

PLEASANT VALLEY: Most valuable player Lily Henry had 21 kills and 13 aces, and host Pleasant Valley beat Gaston 25-7, 25-17, 25-5 in the semifinals then Cedar Bluff 25-16, 25-11, 25-15 in the final.
The Raiders clinched a berth in next week’s North Regional, as did area runner up Cedar Bluff.
Henry led the all-tournament team, along with Pleasant Valley teammates Madison Schwabe, Ella Parris, Ellie Patterson, Cailey Almaroad and Elise Wheeler. Also making the all-tourney team were Gaston’s Bella Holland, Sand Rock’s Macey Pruitt and Cedar Bluff’s Blakelea Hall, Rylie Walker, Janaya Higgins and Kindel Grace.
Pleasant Valley’s top performers:

MUNFORD: The Lions beat Handley 25-6, 25-11, 25-10 and Cleburne County 25-15, 25-18, 25-18 to win the area title and clinch a South Regional berth.
Runner up Cleburne County beat Talladega 25-9, 25-11, 25-10 in the semifinals to also clinch a regional berth.
Munford’s Mylie Stephens was selected most valuable player, joining teammates Kastin Lathem and Faith Jacobs on the all-tournament team. Cleburne County’s Amilya Williams and Laura Beth Clanton made the all-tournament team, along with Talladega’s Zae Cunningham and Handley’s Makayla Laney.
