Arrest Made by Anniston Police for Fatal Shooting on Electronics Drive

Anniston, AL – In the early hours of June 5, 2024, just after 3:00 AM, officers and investigators from the Anniston Police Department responded to a call regarding a gunshot victim in the 1700 block of Electronics Drive. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a male victim, later identified as Jonathan Carter, 44, of Anniston, lying in his vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds.

Emergency responders immediately transported Carter to Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center (NEARMC), where he was later pronounced dead.

The Anniston Police Department quickly identified Keeon Chatman, 30, of Talladega, as a suspect in connection with the murder of Jonathan Carter. At the time of the initial report, Chatman’s whereabouts were unknown. Authorities issued an urgent appeal to the public for any information regarding his location, encouraging anyone with knowledge to contact the Anniston Police Department’s Investigative Division.

At approximately 1:30 PM on June 6, 2024, Keeon Chatman turned himself in at the Anniston Police Department. Chatman was subsequently arrested in connection with the shooting death of Jonathan Carter. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time.
