Jacksonville Police investigate stabbing

On Thursday June 24, 2021 at approximately 5:10pm the Jacksonville Police Department was dispatched to a possible assault in the area of C Street. Upon Arrival officers located a victim* that had been stabbed numerous times and had sustained a serious slash to his neck. The Jacksonville Fire Department Paramedics were called to the scene and made the determination to have the victim air lifted to UAB where he is currently listed in critical, but stable condition.

Chief Wood stated that this crime was an isolated incident and the community is not in danger. Wood went on to state that no one has been charged yet, but the Investigations Division has developed strong information regarding a suspect and an arrest for the crime is expected. When the investigators have completed gathering all of the evidence and talking to witnesses they will bring the information to the District Attorney to determine the level of the charges that the suspect will face.
