Such is the case after today’s release of the final Alabama Sports Writers Association’s baseball and softball rankings for 2023. Oxford remains No. 1 in Class 6A, a position the Yellow Jackets have held for a month, and Alexandria notched up to No. 1 in Class 5A.

The two teams play in the county final March 15, with Oxford winning 5-1 at Jacksonville State University’s Rudy Abbott Field.

The final rankings come out as the baseball playoffs get started. Some best-of-3 first-round series start today, but most start Friday. Oxford (29-6) plays host to Center Point, and Alexandria (26-5) plays host to Jasper.
