OXFORD 72, SPRINGVILLE 45: The Lady Jackets turned up the pressure in the second half and pulled away from a close game.

The ramp-up allowed the Lady Jackets to outscore their visitors 45-21 in the second half. Leah Taylor scored all 10 of her points in the half, Lauren Ellard had six of her 11 and Xai Whitfield had 12 of her game-high 19 with two of her three 3-pointers. Justice Woods also scored in double figures for Oxford (11).

“Our post players carried some things over from practice that we had been working on, so that was good,” Oxford coach Melissa Bennett said.

PLEASANT VALLEY 67, GASTON 24: After barely escaping with a victory the night before against Ashville, the Lady Raiders got off to a fast start in Gaston. Rylee Haynes got off to the fastest start, scoring 14 of her 20 points in the first quarter.

PV will be looking for players to step up their roles with injured Macey Roper expected to miss considerable time and put three players in double figures against the Lady Bulldogs. Rebekah Gannaway played her best game of the season since transferring from Jacksonville, scoring 14 points, and Lily Henry had 15 with three 3-pointers.



CLEBURNE COUNTY 37, WHITE PLAINS 37: After a slow start, the Lady Tigers woke up in the second quarter and pulled away in the second half. Brooklyn McDaniel was held scoreless in the first quarter, but had seven in the second quarter as the Lady Tigers pulled within one at halftime then scored 11 of her 18 points in the second half. Angel Bozarth led White Plains with 14 points. 


JCA 50, WELLBORN 20: Kara Grace scored 21 points and pulled down 26 rebounds as the Lady Thunder won its second straight to even its record at 3-3. Erin Prater added 10 points and six boards to the winning effort, while Addy Lee, recently called up to the varsity, had seven points and six steals.

WESTBROOK 74, FAITH CHRISTIAN 37: Ally Folsom hit 5-of-9 field goal attempts and had 16 points for Faith. She also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Ari Arevalo and Serenity Pate combined for 17 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Lions.  [**read more]
