Anniston, AL – The City of Anniston issued a plea for residents to brace themselves for the ongoing freezing temperatures anticipated to persist until early next week. Responding to the forecasted weather conditions, a collaborative effort between the United Way of East Central Alabama and the City of Anniston has resulted in the establishment of a public warming station. Operational in the evenings from 5:00 PM CST to 8:00 AM CST, the station will be in service from Friday, January 19, 2024, through Tuesday, January 23, 2024. On Saturday, January 20, the warming station will remain open throughout the day.

The designated warming station is housed at The Bridge, located within Anniston First United Methodist Church at 1400 Noble Street, Anniston, AL 36201. It is crucial to note that entry into the warming station concludes each night at 9:00 PM CST. Contingent on any alterations in the weather forecast, an extension of the station’s operating hours might be considered.

For additional information about the warming station, interested individuals can visit www.annistonal.gov/warming-station. The City of Anniston encourages everyone to stay informed and take necessary precautions during this period of extreme weather conditions.
