Anniston, AL – The Anniston Museums and Gardens invites the public to its monthly Berman Book Club, held Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. The club offers a unique opportunity to engage with historical fiction while exploring relevant artifacts from the museum’s Berman collection.
This month’s featured title is The Wave by Todd Strasser, a novel inspired by a real classroom experiment that explored the appeal of authoritarianism. Participants will delve into the book’s themes with guided discussion and connect its historical context to real-world items curated by museum staff.
The Berman Book Club aims to make history accessible and engaging. By pairing novels with artifacts and discussion, participants can gain a deeper understanding of historical events and figures. The club meets monthly and features a new book each session, including upcoming titles such as The Agony and the Ecstasy by Irving Stone in September, The German Wife by Kelly Rimmer in October, and The Secret War of Julia Child by Diana R. Chambers in November.
Admission is $8 per person and free for Anniston Museums and Gardens members. Pre-registration is encouraged.
