Jacksonville, AL – Bridgette Wilson, MSW, LICSW, of Jacksonville, has achieved the distinguished Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential, as announced by Kathryn Lebby, CAE, CMP, President & CEO of the Association for Play Therapy (APT). This national designation recognizes professionals who meet rigorous standards in the practice of play therapy.
To earn the RPT credential, candidates must complete a master’s or higher mental health degree, accrue 150 hours of play therapy training, and accumulate 2,000 hours of clinical experience over at least two years. In addition, applicants must complete 500 hours of supervised play therapy and maintain state licensure in their field.
Play therapy is a developmentally appropriate mental health modality that uses the natural language of children—play—to help them express thoughts and emotions and work through challenges. It is widely regarded as an effective approach for children facing emotional, behavioral, or social difficulties.
Wilson provides therapeutic services to children and families at Noonday Therapeutic Center’s locations in Oxford and Rainbow City. She is a 2009 graduate of Piedmont High School and earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Jacksonville State University in 2013. She went on to complete her Master of Social Work at the University of Alabama in 2017.
Her supervised clinical training in play therapy was overseen by Beth Hughes, LICSW-S, RPT-S, CTT, of Etowah County.
