Calhoun County, AL – Bryant Machine Company, a family-owned machine shop founded in 1979, has announced a major expansion project to support the company’s rapid growth and increased demand for its precision-engineered manufacturing services. The Calhoun County business reports significant gains over the past year, including a 250% increase in sales and a 150% expansion of its workforce. The company’s leadership said the growth has created a need for a larger, more advanced facility capable of supporting continued momentum.
The $3.26 million investment includes construction of a new 22,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility as well as the purchase of additional machining equipment. The expansion will also create 12 new jobs, further strengthening the company’s role as a local provider of high-quality manufacturing employment.
“Bryant Machine began as my grandfather Donald Bryant’s dream back in 1979 — a small family shop with big ambitions. We’ve carried that same spirit forward for more than four decades, growing alongside the Calhoun County community that has always supported us,” said Kirklin Childs, COO and Vice President of Bryant Machine Co. “Achieving AS9100D with ISO 9001:2015 certification and investing in this new facility are ways we’re ensuring that our family business continues to create opportunities and deliver excellence for years to come.”
Bryant Machine Company specializes in CNC turning, milling, assembly, and engineering services, producing components ranging from complex prototypes to high-volume production runs. The company has expanded its capabilities in recent years to include additive manufacturing, portable coordinate measuring machine (CMM) services, and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) engineering solutions. These services allow the business to deliver custom-engineered components that meet demanding industry standards across multiple sectors.
The Calhoun County Economic Development Council (EDC) expressed support for the expansion and its impact on local industry. “This milestone highlights Bryant Machine’s long-standing commitment to innovation, investment, and creation of high-quality jobs,” said Don Hopper, Executive Director of the EDC. “Their success not only strengthens the roots here in Calhoun County but also highlights the important role family-owned businesses play in sustaining and growing our community’s economy.”
Company leaders said the new facility will increase production capacity, streamline operational flow, and support the addition of next-generation machining equipment. The investment positions Bryant Machine Company to remain competitive in the regional and national precision-manufacturing sectors while continuing a legacy of innovation established more than 45 years ago.
