Calhoun County, AL – The Calhoun County Beautification Board (CCBB) has officially opened the nomination period for its highly anticipated Annual Beautification Awards. This yearly tradition recognizes outstanding contributions to enhancing the visual appeal and landscape design across Calhoun County.
Residents now have the opportunity to nominate properties that reflect a commitment to beautification and community pride. Two awards will be presented in each of the county’s Commission Districts—one in each of the following categories:

Commercial/Civic: Including churches, schools, motels, restaurants, and similar establishments.

Residential: Covering both single-family homes and multi-family residences such as apartments and condominiums.
To be eligible, nominated properties must have been maintained and landscaped within the last 12 months. The judging process will evaluate properties based on two primary criteria:

Appearance: Judges will look for well-groomed, distinctive, and harmonious spaces with a unified design.

Landscape Design: Evaluation will focus on the relationship of plantings to the building in terms of size and shape, creative use of the terrain, and how well the plants blend with the overall environment.
The deadline to submit nominations is May 31, 2024, with winners set to be announced in mid-June. This is an excellent opportunity for the community to recognize neighbors, businesses, and civic groups that help make Calhoun County a more beautiful place to live and work.
