- Mr. Winston resented a letter he had received from the city manager that was not signed or on letterhead. He requested the letter be reissued with a signature and on letterhead.
- Dr. West reminded all of the Arbor Day give away on February 19th from 12:00 pm to 2:00 at the Jacksonville Public Square. There will be apple trees and blueberry bushed given away. There are 200 of each.
- Dr. Reyes reviews the many sport successes of the County Schools.
- Jeff Winn spoke about how much he has enjoyed worked with Dr. Reyes on the Board of Education. He is currently seeking reelection.
- Sheriff Wade shared his insights from his trip to DC where he was able to meet with representatives from the Israeli Government and to view over an hours worth of camera footage from the attack on October 7th. He also shared information he received regarding the border crisis.
- Per Sheriff Wade, “One thing that we were I was able to see was the Israeli government showed up in our association and put on a presentation for Sheriffs only. We had to leave our cell phones and our watches outside and signed agreements that we wouldn’t share that info. It’s really a shame in America that we haven’t been told the truth of what happened in Israel on October the seventh. It was definitely hard to watch. It was over an hour worth of video of body cam footage from Hamas soldiers, actually not soldiers, savages. This is what I call it. We saw footage from a victim’s cell phones, their car cameras, and it was really, really disturbing. I will say if everybody saw what I saw I don’t see how anybody couldn’t stand with them and I know that we cannot allow that utter savagery and attack on innocent human lives to exist in this world because they want to extinguish them from the earth. I already knew ,but after seeing that, everybody needs to see it because we’re not being told that in the national news we’re not seeing that. It is not being told. You might hear bits and pieces of it, but if you see it, it’s enraging. We also got to meet with the Speaker of the House. And it goes along with the Israel briefing. We have millions and millions of people crossing our border every day, we don’t know who they are, those people are in our country, and can conduct the same style attack on our country. It’s coming. It is going to happen, it’s not going to be a plane into a building, it’s going to be hundreds or 1000’s of illegal aliens who come from Iran, or any other part of the world. There will be a foreign attack on our country at some point, it’s probably too late. Politics aside, we have to do something to secure our border. Israel had a fence and they still were able to get in, we don’t have any kind of protection. So while we were there, it was really disturbing and eye opening. US Americans need to put politics aside and we need to do what’s right.
- Calhoun County PIO shared that in Mark World of Works will be coming to Oxford and it will be a great opportunity for students to learn about opportunities in Calhoun County.
