Calhoun County, AL – In lieu of a Calhoun County tournament, county boys’ soccer teams will play Isaac Crook Invitational; girls will have county tournament
The new Isaac Crook Invitational will replace the boys’ Calhoun County soccer tournament this year, and the girls will have their county tournament. The field of varsity boys’ soccer teams in the county shrank by two this season. Faith Christian does not have a boys team, and Saks did not have enough players. As a result, not enough high schools in the county field a boys’ varsity soccer team to have a county tournament this year. The five remaining teams formed the Isaac Crook Invitational to honor the late Weaver High School player.
Crook died while working out on the Weaver track in Dec. 3, 2020. He played soccer for Weaver. The Isaac Crook Invitational will play out at the campus sites of higher seeded teams April 4 and April 7, with the championship match set for April 8 at Choccolocco Park. All matches are 7 p.m.
The girls’ county tournament will play out April 3-8 at at McClellan. [read more sports stories…]
