Calhoun County, AL – The Calhoun County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is thrilled to announce the EMA’s participation in the Alabama PALS 2024 Spring Cleanup initiative throughout the month of April. Residents of Calhoun County are encouraged to join in this collective effort to maintain the cleanliness of our beloved state of Alabama.
The Alabama PALS (People Against a Littered State) program provides a platform for individuals and groups to actively contribute to the cleanliness of our highways through the Adopt-A-Mile Program. Participants who adopt a mile along Alabama’s highways receive essential resources such as bags, safety vests, and Adopt-a-Mile signs to facilitate their cleanup efforts. To learn more about the program and how to get involved, residents can visit the ALPALS Adopt-A-Mile Program website.
For those who may find committing to the Adopt-A-Mile program challenging, there’s still an opportunity to participate actively in the ALPALS Spring Cleanup. Residents can simply select a road in Calhoun County for cleanup, with complimentary bags available for their use. Once the cleanup is completed, participants are asked to tie up the bags securely and notify Calhoun County Recycling of the collection point.
To further support residents in their cleanup efforts, convenient bag pick-up locations have been arranged at the Calhoun County Landfill and the Calhoun County Area Chamber & Visitors Center. Calhoun County residents can take advantage of Free Dump Day on April 20th, from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM, exclusively for household waste disposal. Please note that while household waste disposal is free during this event, fees will apply for garbage and tires.
The EMA encourages all residents to join hands in making a significant impact in keeping Alabama clean and beautiful. Active participation in the Spring Cleanup initiative will not only enhance the overall cleanliness and appeal of our community but also promote a sense of pride and responsibility among residents.
