Simultaneously, Governor Kay Ivey announced the activation of an Alabama National Guard team to assist with search and rescue operations in North Carolina.

The Calhoun County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is collecting essential supplies for Hurricane Helene relief from now until Thursday evening. Drop-off locations are available in Jacksonville, Anniston, and Oxford. Items needed include flashlights, non-perishable food, baby supplies, first aid kits, pet food, and cleaning supplies. Monetary donations can also be made through the Red Cross and United Way.

The team will assist North Carolina, where over 1,000 people remain missing following catastrophic flooding. Alabama has also sent three Swift Water Rescue Teams and a Cadaver Dog Team to aid in rescue and recovery missions.
