Ohatchee, AL – A single-vehicle crash on Wednesday, August 28, has resulted in the death of a 55-year-old man from Ohatchee. The incident occurred at approximately 6:25 p.m. when John L. Pruitt, driving a 2006 Lincoln Town Car, lost control of the vehicle. The car left the roadway, struck a ditch, overturned, and collided with a tree.
Pruitt was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident took place on Alabama 144 near the 22-mile marker, about two miles east of Ohatchee in Calhoun County.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation by Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division.
