Calhoun County, AL – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is actively engaged in investigations related to recent property crimes and is reaching out to the public for assistance. By fostering community involvement, the Sheriff’s Office aims to enhance public safety and bring those responsible for criminal activities to justice.
Incident 1:Sometime between 12/3/23 and 4/5/24, a storage unit was broken into at Security Plus Storage on Hwy 21 in Oxford. Various pieces of kitchenware, bedding, clothing, and a Fooseball/air hockey table were stolen
Incident 2: The Sheriff’s Office continues to get reports where citizens are being victimized by phone scammers. As an important reminder…Financial institutions (Banks/Credit Unions) will never call you and ask you to swap your money to a new account, especially one that they have set up without your permission. They will never ask you to send your money to a bank account that is separate from where you already have an account set up. No institution or Government agency will have you pay for any fees/outstanding balances by purchasing Green Dot cards, Gift cards, or Bitcoin/cryptocurrency. If you are ever unsure of what someone is telling you, do not hesitate to contact your Bank/Credit Union, or even call us!
Catch of the Week: – Montrel Burton
On the night of 4/14/24, deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 100 block of Bruce St. in Hobson City. One party that had active warrants, Audencio Garbriel Morales De Leon, left the scene prior to the deputies’ arrival but was found in a vehicle nearby. When a deputy went to arrest him, De Leon physically resisted and fled on foot. He was cornered by deputies after a short foot pursuit and taken into custody. De Leon was subsequently charged with felony Criminal Mischief, Resisting Arrest, Attempting to Elude, and Harassment.
