Catch of the Week: On May 30, deputies responded to reports of a vehicle partially obstructing the roadway at Boiling Springs Road and Mitchellville Road. Upon arrival, deputies found the driver, Jacob Pointer, asleep behind the wheel and unresponsive to multiple attempts to wake him. After exiting the vehicle, Pointer exhibited signs of impairment, including slurred speech, glassy eyes, a strong odor of alcohol, and an inability to maintain balance. Pointer refused to perform standardized field sobriety tests but admitted to having testosterone and syringes inside the vehicle. Deputies searched the vehicle, discovering two vials of “TEST-C” and four hypodermic syringes, for which Pointer admitted he lacked a valid prescription. Following his arrest for driving under the influence and drug possession, a breath test at the county jail confirmed Pointer’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.15%, significantly above the legal limit.
