Calhoun County, AL – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating recent property crimes and is calling on the public for help. By encouraging community involvement, the Sheriff’s Office hopes to improve public safety and hold those accountable for these criminal activities.

Catch of the Week: On May 30, deputies responded to reports of a vehicle partially obstructing the roadway at Boiling Springs Road and Mitchellville Road. Upon arrival, deputies found the driver, Jacob Pointer, asleep behind the wheel and unresponsive to multiple attempts to wake him. After exiting the vehicle, Pointer exhibited signs of impairment, including slurred speech, glassy eyes, a strong odor of alcohol, and an inability to maintain balance. Pointer refused to perform standardized field sobriety tests but admitted to having testosterone and syringes inside the vehicle. Deputies searched the vehicle, discovering two vials of “TEST-C” and four hypodermic syringes, for which Pointer admitted he lacked a valid prescription. Following his arrest for driving under the influence and drug possession, a breath test at the county jail confirmed Pointer’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.15%, significantly above the legal limit.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes the importance of community involvement in ensuring the safety and security of the region. If you have any information related to these incidents or any other criminal activities, please contact the Sheriff’s Office at 256-236-6600. Your assistance is crucial in helping to solve these cases and prevent further criminal activity in our community.
