Calhoun County, AL – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating recent property crimes and is calling on the public for help. By encouraging community involvement, the Sheriff’s Office hopes to improve public safety and hold those accountable for these criminal activities.
Incident 1: Sometime on March 9th someone driving a black Kia Sportage stole two bags of donated items from Helping Hands Thrift Store on Hwy 431 in Alexandria.
Catch of the week: On 1/16 deputies noticed a blue Ram pick up that was failing to maintain lanes while travelling on Old Gadsden Highway. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver gave consent to search the vehicle. Deputies discovered a container containing what appeared to be methamphetamine residue. The passenger of the vehicle, Jennie Reaves, advised the container was hers, and it contained sugar that she took to work with her. Jennie also had a vape that contained THC and “mushrooms”. The container with the residue was tested, and the results came back as positive for methamphetamine. Reaves was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance and Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Reaves is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
