On September 2, 2021 investigators with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office reacted to a tip on a person with an active warrant. They proceeded to the 4000 block of Alexandria-Jacksonville Hwy in unincorporated Jacksonville, looking for Kristy Delane Bragg. Upon arrival investigators located Bragg and another individual named Mikey Pitts. Investigators also located 1oz of Fentanyl and a number of pills not prescribed to either.

Investigators took Bragg and Pitts into custody for the possession of a controlled substance and the outstanding warrant for Bragg. Due to the amount of fentanyl that was recovered Pitts and Bragg were charged with trafficking.

Sheriff Matthew Wade was happy to have the fentanyl off the street. “It is one of the most dangerous drugs out there and it has taken a lot of lives of so many residents.” Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 80-90% more potent than morphine. The narcotic is so powerful that some police officers have accidentally overdosed just from handling the drug without gloves.
