Calhoun County, AL – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating recent property crimes and is calling on the public for help. By encouraging community involvement, the Sheriff’s Office hopes to improve public safety and hold those accountable for these criminal activities.
Incident 1: Sometime between 2/7/25 and 2/10/25, a miter saw with a rolling saw stand was stolen from a residence on MaxwellbornRoad in Piedmont.
Incident 2: Sometime between 1/3/25 and 2/14/25, someone stole items from a residence on Peeks Hill Road in Ohatchee. A vintage glider swing, a bird statue, a flower pot, and a 6ft awning were stolen.
Catch of the Week: Deputies initiated a traffic stop on Bynum Leatherwood Rd and Old Gadsden Hwy for a vehicle speeding and travelling too close to an 18 wheeler. The driver was seen moving frantically around the vehicle, while repeatedly checking the deputies location in his rear view mirror. Deputies made contact with Marcus Leonard Johnson, who had a revoked driver’s license. A search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine, marijuana, and paraphernalia. Johnson was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana 2nd. Johnson is presumed innocent untiloproven guilty in a court of law.
