Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Seeks Public Assistance in Recent Property Crime Investigations

Calhoun County, AL – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is actively engaged in investigations related to recent property crimes and is reaching out to the public for assistance. By fostering community involvement, the Sheriff’s Office aims to enhance public safety and bring those responsible for criminal activities to justice.

Incident 1:Sometime between 2/8/24 and 3/12/24, two U-Haul trailers were stolen from the Chevron at 30 AL Hwy 204 in Wellington. One trailer is a 5’x8’ van trailer with Florida tag GFV797, and the other is a ramp trailer with Tennessee tag 6101TRL.

Incident 2: Between the hours of 9:00AM and 4:00PM on 3/14/24, a burglary was reported to have occurred at a residence in the 100 block of StarlaDr. in the Choccolocco community of Anniston. The home’s DVR security system and various household items were reported stolen.

In the early morning of 3/13/24, a deputy responded to a call being worked by Anniston Police Department officers at the McClellan Inn in Lenlock.ShontonioBattle was a party to that call and was wanted for Probation Revocation through the sheriff’s office. Battle reported difficulty breathing so medics were summoned. However, while being treated by medics, Battle decided his breathing was not so difficult, after all, and he ran away from first responders.

After about twenty minutes of running, Battle was located inside a nearby gas station trying to hide behind the service counter. Despite his resistance, the deputy was able to take Battle into custody without anyone being injured. Battle was transported to the jail for incarceration.
