Calhoun County, AL – Randolph County goes 4-1 in Lady Tigers Classic. Jacksonville goes 3-1, now 15-14 on season. Weaver finished 3-1 run. Munford wins two of three. White Plains, Alexandria win one apiece at Hoover. Handley reaches 20 wins. Piedmont splits at Sardis.

 

OXFORD — Randolph County went 4-1 at the Lady Tiger Classic at Oxford Lake, beating Ashville 4-1 and DAR 9-2 on Friday then Faith Christian 11-0 and Ashville 2-0 on Saturday before falling to champion Boaz 7-3 in the semifinals.

The Tigers improved to 20-8-2.

Highlights included Autumn Taylor’s three-hitter in the second game against Ashville. Brantlee Wortham went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Kinsley Weathers singled with an RBI. Lizze Milam had a double.

Wortham and Lexi Key combined for a one-hitter against Faith. Wortham and Talee Sims had two doubles and two RBIs apiece, and Milam was 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

Gracie Huckeba was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Macie Smith had a single and RBI.

Wortham was 2-for-2 with two doubles, a run and three RBIs against DAR, and Sims had a double, a run and an RBI. Weathers had a single, a run and an RBI.

Key pitched a two-hitter in the first game against Ashville, and Milam had a single and two RBIs

JACKSONVILLE: The Golden Eagles (15-14) went 3-1 at the Lady Tiger Classic at Oxford Lake, beating Shelby County 4-2, Central-Clay 4-1 and Munford 4-3 before falling to Boaz 13-0.

Lexi Phillips had a double and RBI against Shelby County, and the Golden Eagles got a single and RBI apiece from Teah Evans and Sadee Pate-Whitfield. Je’henna Engram doubled and scored a run.

Evans allowed 10 hits but two runs with a strikeout in five innings.

Against Central-Clay, Evans pitched a three-hitter with one strikeout and went 1-for-3 at the plate.

Engram went 2-for-3 with a triple, a run and two RBIs. L Barnes had a double, a run and an RBI, and Libby Strain doubled with an RBI.

Engram’s RBI double gave Jacksonville the lead in the top of the ninth inning against Munford. Strain also had a double, and Evans was 2-for-3.

Evans also allowed three hits and struck out four batters in six innings.

MUNFORD: The Lions (21-8-1) went 2-1 at Oxford Lake, beating DAR 4-3 and Cleburne County 5-0 before falling to Jacksonville in nine innings.

Against DAR, Jena Gaither was 2-for-2 with a run and two RBIs, and Bayleigh Durham had a single and RBI. Raleigh Dew doubled and scored a run.

Madison Arnold got the win, allowing one hit in two innings.

Arnold pitched a one-hitter with four strikeouts in five innings against Cleburne County. A Britt went 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs, and Gaither was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI. Tayla Marlow had a single and an RBI.

WEAVER: The Bearcats (15-7) finished off a 3-1 run at Oxford Lake, beating Woodland 2-0 before losing to eventual champion Boaz 10-5 on Saturday. Their winning streak reached eight games before the loss to Boaz, whom Weaver beat earlier in the tourney.

Kynlee pitched a one-hitter against Woodland on Saturday, striking out nine batters, and Weavr got a single and RBI apiece from Alana Cooper and Kaelyn Free.

WHITE PLAINS: The Wildcats (22-13) went 1-3 at the Hoover Met, splitting two Saturday games. They beat Lawrence County 11-1 and lost to Hoover 13-0.

Against Lawrence County, Leighton Arnold pitched a two-hitter with three strikeouts in five innings. She also had a single and an RBI.

Carli Fritts had a single and two RBIs, and the Wildcats got a single and RBI apiece from Karli Otwell, Cassidy Arnold and Braeton Moran.

ALEXANDRIA: The Valley Cubs (26-12-1) went 1-3 at the Hoover Met, losing to Liberty Creek 4-0 on Friday, Helena 10-2 and Curry 6-0 on Saturday and beating Pike Road 12-4.

Jill Cockrell went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs against Pike Road, and Cali Hess was 1-for-2 with a run and two RBIs.

Brenlee Sparks had a single, a run and an RBI, and Pressley Slaton drove in a run.

Charlee Parris was 2-for-2 with two runs, and Allyssa Hunt went 2-for-3.

Slaton got the win, allowing two hits and one earned run with six strikeouts in three innings.

Alexandria finished a busy week 4-4.

HANDLEY: Playing at Prattville Christian, Handley (20-7) lost to T.R. Miller 9-6 and Prattville Christian 6-4 before beating Maplesville 4-0.

Ava Hill pitched a three-hitter against Maplesville, striking out eight batters. She also went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Makenzie McCain had two RBIs, and Kai Brown was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Kamlyn Holloway had a triple and scored a run.

In other highlights, Hill had a homer and triple with two RBIs against Prattville Christian, and Mariana Whaley had a double and RBI.

Holloway homered with two RBIs against T.R. Miller, and Raquel Joiner had a single and three RBIs. Hill doubled and scored a run.

PIEDMONT: The Bulldogs (16-7) went 1-1 at an area-preparation tournament at Sardis, beating Sardis 1-0 and falling to Madison Academy 2-0.

Against Sardis, Savannah Smith pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts.

Cayla Brothers went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run, and Cacey Brothers had the RBI.

Carson Young pitched a complete game against Madison Academy, allowing eight hits and one earned run with three strikeouts.

Cayla Brothers, Cacey Brothers and Jaycee Glover had a single apiece.
