OXFORD, AL — The Calhoun County Sports Hall of Fame is set to celebrate its 20th induction class this year, continuing its tradition of honoring outstanding local athletes and coaches. During a press conference held on February 21, Vice President Jon Holder and newly appointed Board President Connie Davidson officially announced the six inductees who will join the Hall of Fame in 2025.

The induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 14, at the Oxford Civic Center, marking two decades of recognizing sports excellence in Calhoun County. Since its establishment in 2005, the Hall of Fame has inducted 124 members, with this year’s class bringing the total to 130.

Connie Davidson, who now serves as Board President of the Calhoun County Sports Hall of Fame, expressed her appreciation for stepping into the role after years of dedicated service.

“Well, first of all, it’s an honor,” Davidson said. “I’ve been on this board for about 12 or 15 years—I’ve quit counting. But we’ve had such great leadership. Like Jon was saying, we wouldn’t have a Calhoun County Sports Hall of Fame if it were not for the vision of Coach Bill Jones. He’s someone that I’ve always looked up to, admired, and known since my years at JSU.”

Davidson also reflected on past leadership that has shaped the Hall of Fame.

“Joe Estep was our board president, and I have such a great relationship with him. And then Ken Grissom has just done an amazing job over the years,” she said. “The one thing I’ll tell you about this board is, it’s made up of a group of people who work very closely and very well together. And I think that’s because the mission of the board is something that we all share. That mission is coming together, selecting these individuals to go into the Hall of Fame, and making sure that their night is the most special night for them and their families.”

When asked what she looks forward to the most about the ceremony, Davidson highlighted the emotional impact of the event.

“Oh, I think that night—just seeing when they’re inducted,” she said. “Many times, I don’t watch them on the stage. I find myself watching their family.”
