Silver Lakes, AL – Alexandria girls win Coosa River Invitational. Big day for Donoho soccer, tennis and baseball. Piedmont baseball sweeps, and softball wins at Wellborn. Faith Christian, Ranburne, Wellborn, Alexandria victorious in baseball. Oxford, Pleasant Valley, White Plains win in softball.Jacksonville girls, White Plains boys win in soccer.

 

Avery Prickett shot an 82 en route to a second-place finish, and Alexandria’s girls won the Coosa River Invitational on Thursday at Silver Lakes.

Alexandria shot a combined 49 over par, beating second-place White Plains by 29 strokes.

Southside’s Mallory Brooks shot a 7-over-par 79 to finish as medalist. White Plains’ Isabel Rogers was third at 83.

Alexandria’s Nevaeh Foster finished fifth at 85. Annabelle Page was eighth at 97, and Marlee Hedgepeth was ninth at 26.

White Plains’ Camryn McElory finished seventh at 96.

Tennis

DONOHO SWEEPS: Donoho’s boys and girls swept Oxford, with the girls winning 8-1 and boys winning 7-2.

Winning for Donoho’s girls were Blair Kitchen in No. 2 singles, Avery Barnett in No. 3 singles, Natalee Rodgers in No. 3 singles, Taylor Worley in No. 5 singles, Claire Tollison in No. 6 singles and all three doubles teams … Kitchen-Barnett, Harris-Rodgers and Worley-Tollison.

Oxford’s Claire Maniscalco won in No. 1 singles.

Donoho’s boys got wins from Ethan Crawford in No. 2 singles, Foster Payton in No. 3 singles, Trey Alexander in No. 4 singles, Walker Bodiford in No. 5 singles, Bo Whitelaw in No. 6 and the doubles teams of Payton-Bodiford and Alexander-Rishi Reddy.

Soccer

DONOHO GIRLS 7, WEAVER 0: Led by Erin Turley’s three goals, top-ranked Donoho (6-0-1) won in area play.

Anna Kate Wallace added two goals, and the Falcons got one apiece from Zoe Christopher and Haley Hartwell.

Weaver goalie Lena Johannson had 34 saves.

JACKSONVILLE GIRLS 9, WHITE PLAINS 0: In Class 4A, Area 5 action tonight at Jacksonville, the Golden Eagles got two goals and one assist from Emerson Weaver and one goal and two assists from Lexi Page.

Emma Easterling and Sarah Sloughfy with one goal and an assist each.

Also scoring goals were Kylie Terrell, Willa Kate Walker, Elena Sevgi, and Marisol Cole. Goalie Kelsie Sigler earned the shutout.

WHITE PLAINS BOYS 3, JACKSONVILLE 1: In 4A, Area 5 play at Jacksonville, White Plains got two goals from Gleymar Perez, and Catcher Jenkins had an assist.

Goalie Hugo Mondragon recorded 13 saves.

Baseball

DONOHO SWEEPS: Donoho (5-5) finished off an area sweep of Sand Rock, winning 10-0 and 11-1 on Thursday.

In the first game, Blake Sewell pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts. He also doubled with an RBI and scored three runs.

Kai Cleckler homered and drove in a team-high three runs. Hayes Farrell went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs.

Donoho also got a single and RBI from Brodie Macolley.

In the second game, Farrell pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and had an RBI.

Peyton Webb had a single and three RBIs, and Cleckler went 2-for-3 with a double, run and RBI. Marcus Lawler went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and RBI.

FAITH CHRISTIAN 8, ANNISTON 2: Faith’s Jayden Smith struck out 15 batters and allowed one hit in 6 1/3 innings, and Carson Harris pitched the final two outs with one strikeout.

Harris and Tanner Smith singled with a team-high two-RBIs for Faith (4-6). Brady Whitworth went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, and Vinson Montgomery and Jayden Smith had two hits and an RBI apiece.

Eli Robinson was 2-for-4 with a run, and Will Smith had a double and run.

RANBURNE 9, OHATCHEE 6: Ranburne’s Carter Loren doubled and drove in a team-high two runs.

The Bulldogs also got a single, RBI and two runs from Truett Ward, and Aiden Jackson drove in a run.

For Ohatchee (5-6), Will Folsom homered and drove in two runs. Jake Roberson and Dylan Ramsey had an RBI apiece.

PIEDMONT SWEEPS: The Bulldogs completed an area sweep of Weaver, winning 12-2 and 12-2 on Thursday.

In Game 1, Piedmont’s McClane Mohon went 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs. Cole Austin went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs, and Kale Austin was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Cole Wilson’s 2-for-4 performance included a double.

Weaver got two hits apiece from Tracen Jones and Tucker Michaels, and Landon Free doubled and scored a run.

In the second game, Mohon went 3-for-4 with a triple, double, two runs and two RBIs. Trevor Pike had two doubles, two runs and an RBI, and Kale Austin went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs.

Cole Austin went 2-for-3 with a double and three runs.

WELLBORN SWEEPS: Wellborn (5-8) finished off a sweep of an area series with Saks, winning 14-2 and 22-6 on Thursday.

In the first game, Wellborn got two RBIs apiece from Brennan Talley and Dozer Hayes. Talley went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, and Hayes was 1-for-3 with a run.

Zachary Pressley and Will Phillips each had a single, run and RBI, and Tanner Ingram went 2-for-3 with a double and three runs.

Pressley and Ingram combined to allow four hits and strike out 11 batters.

In Game 2, Jackson Clark went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and four RBIs.

Aziah Amberson went 3-for-3 with four runs and three RBIs, and Cameron O’Brien had a double and three RBIs.

Sawyer Thomas had a double and RBI.

Thomas and Talley combined to throw a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

ALEXANDRIA 8, ETOWAH 6: Alexandria’s Eli Barnes homered with two RBIs, and Samuel Henegar singled with two RBIs.

Evan Snow doubled with an RBI, and Ian Cartwright singled with an RBI.

Bray Goode pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits and five earned runs and two strikeouts. Henegar had a strikeout while finishing the game in relief.

Softball

OXFORD 9, PELL CITY 3: Berkley Mooney and Kaelyn Crossley each went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs as Oxford improved to 7-7, 5-0 area. Mooney pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts.

Emma Tims-Becerra went 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI, and Reagan Sanders had an RBI.

MUNFORD 8, LINCOLN 3: Ashlyn Bishop homered, scored two runs and had three RBIs as Munford improved to 11-1-1.

Raleigh Dew had a single and two RBIs, and the Lions got an RBI apiece from Addyson Britt, Brooklyn Pressley Jena Gaither. Britt hit a double.

Gaither pitched six innings, striking out 10 batters while allowing four hits and one walk.

Lincoln’s Paisley LaClair had a single and two RBIs, and Madison Smith had a single and RBI.

PLEASANT VALLEY 15, WOODLAND 1: Lily Henry went 3-for-5 with a double, three runs and four RBIs as Pleasant Valley improved to 4-2. She also pitched a complete game, allowing three hits and one walk with seven strikeouts.

Jordan Cheatwood went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs, and Lilly Robinson had a single and two RBIs.

Madyson Cromer doubled and an RBI. Haylie Lee and Cailey Almaroad each had a single and RBI.

PIEDMONT 5, WELLBORN 1: Piedmont’s Cacey Brothers went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs, and Cayla Brothers went 2-for-3 with a triple, double and two runs.

Savannah Smith went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs and pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, allowing no hits, runs or walks with two strikeouts for the save.

Carson Young got the win, allowing seven hits an no earned runs with three strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.

Wellborn’s Destiny Benefield had a single and RBI, and Cassidy Gray went 2-for-4.

WHITE PLAINS 10, COOSA CHRISTIAN 0: Callie Richardson and Leighton Arnold hit two home runs apiece as White Plains improved to 7-5.

Both went 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs. Richardson also hit a double.

Cooper Martin went 3-for-3 with a run and RBI, and Sarah Kate Adams had a double and RBI.

Braeton Moran had a double and scored a run.

Carli Fritts got the win, pitching all five innings with 11 strikeouts. She pitched a two-hitter.
