Calhoun County, AL – The Calhoun Journal is expanding the ways readers can access local news with the addition of short-form video coverage on TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
The new channels will offer quick news updates designed to deliver key information in under a minute, providing another option for readers who prefer short-form video content.
The expansion does not change the Calhoun Journal’s existing news model. Regular articles and popular coverage will continue to be published across the Journal’s current platforms and will remain free to readers, as always.
Instead, the short-form channels are being added as another way for the community to stay informed. Many videos will highlight stories available through the Calhoun Journal’s traditional coverage, while additional original content will be developed specifically for short-form video. Some of that new content may be available exclusively through TikTok, YouTube Shorts and other video platforms.
Facebook Reels and Instagram Reels will also remain part of the Journal’s short-form video coverage.
The expansion is intentionally a work in progress. Throughout the coming week and beyond, the Calhoun Journal will experiment with different types of videos, formats and approaches to determine what works best for both the newsroom and its audience.
As the Journal develops its short-form coverage, readers are encouraged to follow along, offer feedback and allow time for the new format to evolve.
