On October 20th United Way of East Central Alabama hosted a Day of Action at Jacksonville State University.  There faculty, staff and students packaged 50,000 meals for the needy. This event was held at Pete Mathews Coliseum. 200 volunteers assembled family-sized meals of vitamin-enriched oatmeal and macaroni and cheese to be distributed to food banks right here in Calhoun County, including the Gamecock Market. The university will kick off its annual United Way campaign in January, allowing employees to payroll deduct their giving and designate the nonprofit of their choice. If you are interested in supporting the United Way learn how to at www.uweca.org.
