Celebrate Independence Day at Oxford Lake & Park: July 4th Freedom Festival

Oxford, AL – Oxford Lake & Park invites everyone to join in the festivities this Independence Day with a vibrant lineup of events at the July 4th Freedom Festival. Taking place at the scenic Oxford Lake & Park, this family-friendly celebration promises a day filled with excitement and community spirit.

The July 4th Freedom Festival begins with the much-anticipated parade, starting promptly at 9:00 am. Children and participants adorned in patriotic attire are encouraged to walk or ride in non-motorized vehicles down McCullars Lane, ending at Liberty Park under the green dome. To ensure safety, all riders must wear helmets if participating on bicycles or tricycles. Parade registration opens at 8:30 am in the baseball parking lot, where small goody bags will be distributed to participants.

Participants in the parade can look forward to receiving ribbons in various categories, celebrating their creativity and patriotic spirit. This cherished community tradition is a highlight of the day, bringing together families and neighbors to celebrate America’s birthday in style.

Following the parade and Opening Ceremonies at 9:15 am, the pet show kicks off at 9:30 am near the city swimming pool, across from Liberty Park. Pets of all breeds and species are invited to participate, dressed in their finest patriotic attire. The event is free to enter, and awards will be presented to standout pets in various categories.

The pet show not only showcases the diversity of Oxford’s beloved pets but also adds a delightful touch of fun and companionship to the day’s festivities. Pet owners are encouraged to arrive promptly after the Opening Ceremonies to register and prepare their furry friends for the spotlight.

Throughout the morning, families can enjoy a variety of attractions including a petting zoo near the Civic Center, tricycle and bicycle races at Liberty Park (helmets required), and free carnival games and prizes inside the Civic Center gymnasium from 9:45 am to 11:30 am.

As the day progresses, visitors can cool off at the Oxford Lake Pool, open from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm with a nominal admission fee of $2 per person. The festivities culminate in the evening with a spectacular fireworks display at 9:00 pm, illuminating the skies over Oxford Lake in a dazzling celebration of freedom and community spirit.
